TRAVIS LAYNE CONVICTED OF JURY TAMPERING BY IBERIA PARISH JURY

     Travis Layne, 39, of New Iberia, was convicted today of jury tampering by an Iberia Parish jury.

     The charges arise out of Layne’s attempts to contact a juror in a previously scheduled trial.

     A sentencing hearing is scheduled for September 29, 2025, before the Honorable Lewis H. Pitman, Jr.   Because of the nature of the underlying offense, the potential penalty for jury tampering is not more than thirty years at hard labor.

     This case was prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Alister Charrier and Assistant Attorney General Daniel Smart. The case was investigated by the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Chitimacha Tribal Police.

     The District Attorney’s Office would especially like to thank Attorney General Liz Murril for the assistance of Mr. Smart in this matter. Further, the District Attorney’s Office would like to commend Trey Domingue, David Decourt, an  Corey Derouen with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office for their thorough investigation.
