Defendant Convicted of Multiple Drug and Weapons Charges

      New Iberia, Louisiana:  On Friday, February 1, 2019, a New Iberia jury convicted Tabian Michael Davis, 36, of multiple drug and weapons charges.

     Davis' convictions stem from an investigation by the Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office.  In April 2017, IPSO SWAT and Special Investigations Unit executed a search warrant at Davis' residence in New Iberia.  During the execution of the search warrant, the officers located inside Davis' residence:

• fifteen (15) grams of powder cocaine;
• two (2) grams of crack cocaine;
• ninety-six (96) pills containing methamphetamine;
• seventeen (17) oxycodone pills;
• seven (7) tramadol pills;
• one hundred and forty-five (145) grams of marijuana;
• eighty-eight (88) grams of synthetic cannabinoids;
• tools used in the manufacture of crack cocaine; and
• a digital scale

     Additionally, the officers recovered three firearms and a bulletproof vest from the residence.

     After a multi-day trial, Davis was convicted of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (Methamphetamine); Attempted Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance (Synthetic Cannabinoids); two counts of Possesion of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (Cocaine); Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (Oxycodone); Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance (Tramadol); Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance (Marijuana); three counts of Illegal Possession of a Weapon in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance; and Unlawful Use or Possession of Body Armor.

     Assistant District Attorneys Aaron Brown, Janet Perrodin, and Mason Hebert prosecuted the case.
  
     A sentencing hearing is set before the Honorable Vincent Borne on May 9, 2019.  Davis faces up to thirty years at hard labor for his convictions.
